Welcome to the blog for the National Academic Advising Association’s Faculty Advising commission. NACADA is a professional association dedicated to the improvement of academic advising throughout higher education. The Faculty Advising commission is one of several such groups within NACADA. We welcome any NACADA member with an interest in faculty advising, regardless of position title, experience, organizational affiliation or educational background. If you are a faculty advisor, interact with faculty advisors, or want to be a faculty advisor, please join! Your NACADA membership entitles you to join up to four commissions, and we hope you’ll consider the faculty advising commission among them.
The goals of the Faculty Advising commission include:
- Increasing the overall membership of the Commission.
- Increasing the number of Commission members actively involved in Commission governance.
- Increasing the visibility of NACADA in discipline-based faculty organizations.
- Contributing to NACADA’s various publication venues: Clearinghouse, Academic Advising Today, and the NACADA Journal.
We understand that everyone is busy in higher education, so you are welcome to become as involved as your schedule permits.
Please direct questions about NACADA, the Faculty Advising Commission and posts in this blog to the Commission chair, Dr. Bob Hurt, Professor of Accounting at California State Polytechnic University Pomona. Bob’s e-mail address is rlhurt *at* csupomona.edu.
