Through my LinkedIn account, I came across an article titled “Academic Customer Service Shouldn’t Be a Dirty Word” by Christine Nowik; you should be able to access the article via this link.
The idea of bringing ideas from the business world into higher education is always a controversial proposition. In many ways, the two are very different from one another; but, I’ve always been of the view that some ideas can be mutually beneficial–in both directions. As advisors, some of what we do bears striking similarities to customer service.
